About AGMARDT

Investing in the future of New Zealand Agribusiness

AGMARDT aims to foster and encourage innovative ideas, research capability and potential leaders within the agricultural, horticultural and forestry sectors.

Our mission is to enhance New Zealand’s international pre-eminence and competitive advantage in the production, processing and marketing of high quality, and increasingly higher value, agri-food and fibre products.

Each year, AGMARDT invests around $2.5 million into developing world-class capacity and capability within the agribusiness sector.

We invest in the following programmes:

  • Leadership development programmes
  • Developing research expertise and capability in universities and Crown Research Institutes
  • Seed funding of up to $120,000 to develop and evaluate innovative ideas and
  • Supporting international speakers and visiting experts to New Zealand and speaking at Conference and forums within the agribusiness sector.

AGMARDT is independent

AGMARDT is an independent not-for-profit organisation with a proven track record of making targeted investments that aim to make a positive contribution to the agricultural, horticultural and forestry sectors.

We have provided grants and funding to agribusiness totaling $55 million since our inception in 1987.
