Developing Research Expertise and Capability

AGMARDT invests in programmes that build research capability and capacity within New Zealand’s science community to underpin the agriculture, horticulture and forestry sectors.

Postdoctoral Fellowships

Postdoctoral Fellowships are applied for, and competed for, by would-be mentors who have identified projects and opportunities for building capability in developing fields of science in areas of interest to AGMARDT.

Visiting Fellowships

Visiting Fellowships are aimed to encourage visits to New Zealand by people who have recognised global expertise in areas of relevance to agribusiness. The objective is to transfer knowledge and learning capability directly to New Zealand audiences. Host organisations include universities, Crown Research Institutes, Industry Research organisations, businesses and government agencies.

Research Fellowships

Each year up to two fellowships can be awarded to enable a rapid response to new and emerging issues. AGMARDT provides seed funding to enable fast, initial research, evaluation and documentation and then expects research institutions or the business sector to take up the case. By invitation only.
